How Assessments Work
We initially determine the state of the existing acoustic environment, undertake acoustic noise surveys to understand and capture any existing sources creating noise around or near the site. A sound meter is used to measure the actual noise levels from these sources.

1Noise Survey Data Collection
In order to collect the noise survey data, we would typically record measurements during the day and at night. The measurement process requires the dominant sources to be measured. These include things like the weather, the local traffic noise and the amount of HGV's around the area.
2Noise Mapping & Analysis
Once the data is collected, we use it to build a noise map. The various colours on the colour shaded map highlight the varying degrees of noise levels on site. 3Building Recommendations
Once the sound level data has been collected and analysed, the values can help us make recommendations on what building elements to use. These can include recommendations on the types of glazing to be used in the construction, as well as ventilation to make sure that the desired internal noise levels can be achieved to discharge any planning and building regulations conditions.

The BS8233 Residential Development Acoustic Standard was put in place to help improve the acoustic design of internal and external living spaces in a residential development.
